Representing NightMuse: Dr. Petra Zeller Dotlačilová (subproject 3) in Ludwigsburg
On 14–16 May, 2026, Dr. Petra Zeller Dotlačilová (subproject 3) participated in the international conference Der Bühnendekorationsfundus im Schlossteater Ludwigsburg, at the Palace of Ludwigsburg, Baden-Württemberg.
She presented a paper titled 'La richesse, l'élégance, la variété et la perfection du costume. Louis-René Boquet, dressing the spectacles of Duke Carl Eugen of Württemberg'. Her contribution presented the work of the French costume designer Louis-René Bouquet at the Württemberg court between 1762 and 1765, including costumes for ballets performed on the stage at Ludwigsburg and within the preserved stage decoration. Her case study focused on the relationship between costumes and scenography in the ballet Hypermnestre, which featured a horrific night scene of a massacre.
The presentation was warmly received by the international community of musicologists, art historians, scenographers and conservators interested in historical stage design. They especially appreciated the little-known sources containing costume designs and stage descriptions, as well as the innovative use of AI tools in presenting the material.
